Rustic Snack and Buffet Table Setting Arrangements (using tree branch place card and candle holders)

Rustic tree branch place card holders for buffet tables snack tables.
Desert table by Nancy M.  Look at all that delicious food!  The tree branch place card holders are holding the labels for the food, but they really need another set to hold a sign that tells people like me to make sure and leave some for everyone else!  I think I need a snack right now!

Nancy M. used the tree branch place holders to dress up a snack and dessert table.  On second thought, those big tasty croissants look like they could make a meal.  What a wonderful arrangement!

Stephanie N. has these pinwheels cleverly renamed "Sleeping Bags."  It can really add a great decorative touch when your food items match your rustic and outdoor themes.  The table is accented with our tree branch place card holders and a couple of our tree branch vases.

Kim F. shows this photo of a place card with a scalloped edge.  Sometimes you can find these in places like Hobby Lobby or Michael's.  If you can't find them then you can make them up real quick with some card stock and some decorative edge scissors.

Belinda S. shows off this buffet table that uses some of our larger tree branch place holders for the food card labels.  I love the little food warmers too.  They just give it a cozy feeling.  There appears to be some serious fixings for the guests.  It reminds me of a good ol' pot luck, only much prettier!

Table setting with Tree Branch Candle Holders for weddings, events, decor, cabins, outdoors, farm, woodland
Sabrina C.-H. used some of our tree branch candle holders to make this awesomely rustic table setting.  Notice one is used as a stump and turned upside down to break it up a little.

Aimee W. took this 2 inch tall tree branch candle holder and used it with a full size tall votive candle.  The holder is wrapped in a burlap band and accented with a stamped 2 inch diameter wood slice.

Tracy B. arranged these candle holders on top of a 6 to 7 inch diameter wood slice and added a little touch of moss to give it that extra outdoorsy touch.

Maggie S added a little paint to dress up these tree branch candle holders around the bottom.  This is really a neat way to bring the rustic outdoors together with your interior colors or just to give them a pop of pizzazz.

Jessy F. put this old time rustic table setting together.  Some of our tree branch candle holders are grouped together with a vintage watering can and milk can.  I'm just guessing here, but it looks like a beautiful 14 inch diameter wood slab they are all sitting on.

Andrea S. used these cedar tree branch candle holders for this table arrangement.  The bark has been stripped off the wood to give it a lighter smooth characteristic.

Rustic Wedding Guest Book Sign In Table, Tree branch vases, wood slices, rustic venue
Melissa E. made this awesome guest book sign in table.  Such a wonderful arrangement!  It is accented with some of our irregular tree branch vases holding some Baby's Breath flowers.

Many of these items are available in our Etsy store HERE!

Hand printed Wood Slice Ornaments using Crochet Flowers

Here are some really cool Christmas ornaments that were made by Judith L. and her daughter from California.  They used crochet flowers to print these neat designs onto some 3 inch wood slices and then put some holes in them and strung some twine through to hang them up.  Really neat idea!  They look like snow flakes and the possibilities are endless with using other colors and even possibly layering one color over another.

You can find wood slices to use for ornaments in our Church House Woodworks Etsy Shop.

Try your hand at making some home-made DIY ornaments.  You can use paints, markers, glitter, sand art, or decorate them with pictures, beads, jewels, etc.

Tree Branch Vase with Glass Pedestal DIY

Here is one of our tree branch vases that got an upgrade from Kayla S.  You can see that a glass pedestal was attached to the bottom of the vase to give it some height and character along with some shine and sophistication. A wood shaped heart with their initials burned in to it and tied on with some twine gives it a great personalized touch.  The patriotic Red, White, and Blue flowers make the perfect touch to this military family's wedding.

You can find the tree branch vases at our Church House Woodworks Etsy Shop.  The pedestals can usually be found in a Walmart or craft store like Hobby Lobby in the glass and candle holder section.  You can use a taper candle holder to make the base and then glue it to the bottom of the tree branch vase.  Make sure it bonds securely, you don't want it to come toppling down at your event!  She used a heart shaped wood tag for hers or you can also use a wood slice with a hole in it like the ones here.  If you further want to preserve your vase you can use an aerosol can of clear coat and give it 2 or 3 quick coats of a matte or satin finish.

Rustic Wood Slice Mosaic Art Fireplace Mantel DIY

Here is a super awesome wood slice mosaic fireplace mantel surround that was made by Ava C. from Pennsylvania.  She used wood slices in the 1 to 3 inch diameter range from our eclectic mix along with some cedar slices.  You can see many of the pieces were painted in a wide array of colors that mix with the natural tones of the wood to give a kaleidoscopic effect of an outdoorsy rustic feel coupled with a unique modernness that is sure to be a conversation piece that will draw the utmost attention.

If you would like to take on a project like this or make an art piece or a wall hanging then you can find a selection of pieces in our Churh House Woodworks Etsy Shop.

First you need to decide on what you want to do.  If you do not have a structure to attach the pieces to then you can use a scrap of lumber to make a backing.  We have made some using 1 inch thick/12 inch wide pine, or you can use larger pieces made form OSB, MDF, or plywood.  Then select the adhesive you would like to use.  We use a lot of Elmers wood glue for our projects, but most any adhesive that bonds wood will do.  Hot glue is fine for a lot of projects, but for something around a fireplace remember that if it heats up it can loosen the glue so for that you might go with a glue with a stronger more permanent bond like Gorilla glue or even a tube of F-13 or F-26.

If you plan to paint any of your pieces it seems easier to paint them before bonding them to your project.  Give them a little time to dry so that you can push down on the surface with some pressure when you attach them without having the paint come off on your fingers.

Working with a vertical surface is much more challenging than working on a flat work piece.  On a flat piece you can lay out your pieces and glue them one at a time, while on a wall you will have to better form a plan.  Make sure to get a mixture of the diameter sizes as you place them.  If you are using colors then make sure and mix them up.  Take a step back every now and then as you go to make sure it looks good from a viewing distance and so you can see what it needs more of less of.  Keep in mind that some adhesives bond instantly and others will give you a few minutes to change your mind.  On a vertical wall the ones that are not an instant bond can begin to slide down so since there are advantages/disadvantages to both kinds consider your needs when buying your materials.

After you art pieces is completed we recommend sealing it off with a clear coat.  They make brush-on clear coats by Minwax and other brands that work well, but it is usually a lot quicker and easier to just get a couple aerosol cans and give them about 3 coats.  This will preserve your treasure for years to come.  Remember that a Matte will leave an end result that looks more natural.  A satin will bring out just a bit more of the wood and color, and a Gloss can change the appearance entirely by deepening all the colors and tones and putting a very noticeable shine to the work.  We usually stick with a Matte finish, but it's all in what you want.

Nature Objects On Dictionary Paper On Wood Slices

Nature Objects On Dictionary Paper On Wood Slices

One of our customers who purchased our wood slices came up with this very unique and crafty project. She had 32 kids draw nature objects onto dictionary paper and onto the wood slices. They were all mounted together into one big piece. She used Mod Podge antique matte adhesive and finish to stick the drawings on there.

Rustic Succulent Plant Holder

Submitted By: Amy B. from California

Check out this gorgeous rustic arrangement. A proven conversation piece that your guests will definitely try to take home with them. You can place these around individually as accent pieces or wrap them in a bundle with jute rope or twine to make a table centerpiece. Succulents can be found on Etsy or through local vendors in your community.

These succulent vases are a mixed height set of 4", 6", and 8" tall holders. These are all approx 2.5" to 3" in diameter and have a 1.5" diameter hole drilled 3" deep in the center for the plants to go in.

We do custom orders. Go straight to our Etsy store and look at our succulent vases. Message us if you want a custom order like you see in the picture.

Heart Branded Wood Slices For Rustic Weddings

Submitted By:
Dayna S. from Pennsylvania

Here's a neat idea. These wood slices were burned with a heart shaped branding iron. What a great way to give your wedding or event a rustic feel. You can find different branding irons in places like eBay and Etsy and you can even custom make them into your own unique design.

You don't have to stop at wood slices, you can burn these onto cake stands, centerpieces, tables, (might not want to do these if they are not yours) haha. We have also seen them in shapes of snowflakes. What a cool idea for the Christmas season.
